BEADS™ Technology – FAQ

BEADS™ (Bio-Electrochemical Anaerobic Digestor System) is an advanced wastewater treatment technology that combines biological anaerobic digestion with bio-electrochemical processes. It uses special electrodes and naturally occurring microbes to accelerate the breakdown of organic pollutants, reduce sludge generation, and recover energy in the form of electricity or biogas.

• Anaerobic Digestion: Microbes consume organic pollutants (COD/BOD) in the absence of oxygen.
• Electrochemical Enhancement: Electrodes provide a surface for microbial biofilm growth and facilitate electron transfer, which speeds up the degradation process.
• Energy Recovery: Instead of consuming power like conventional aeration systems, BEADS™ generates renewable energy.
• Low Sludge Output: The process stabilizes biomass and reduces sludge production by up to 80% compared to conventional activated sludge.

• Energy Positive – Generates electricity rather than consuming power for aeration.
• Low Sludge Production – Only 0.1–0.2 kg sludge per m³ of effluent.
• No Aeration Needed – Saves energy otherwise spent on blowers.
• Chemical-Free – Reduces/eliminates need for coagulants.
• Compact & Modular – 14-inch, 3-meter modules scalable from 1 KLD to 500+ KLD.
• Carbon-Friendly – Cuts CO₂ emissions significantly.

BEADS™ is suitable for:
• Textile industries (dyeing, washing, bleaching wastewater)
• Dairy & food processing
• Distilleries & breweries
• Pharmaceutical & chemical units
• Municipal wastewater

• Sustainability – Supports Zero Liquid Discharge (ZLD) and ESG.
• Cost Savings – Reduces energy, sludge handling, and chemicals.
• Innovation – First of its kind commercial microbial fuel cell system in India.
• Scalability – Deployable in SMEs and large plants.
• Social Impact – Cleaner discharges and improved water reuse.

•Installed as modules.
• Arrangement: Modules are arranged as arrays depending upon the space.
• Installation: Compact sheds or outdoor structures with roof covering.
• Ancillaries: Basic pumps, dosing systems, and monitoring units.

Continous flow system

• COD Reduction: 50-60%
