The textile industry consumes ~200 L of water per kg fabric and faces strict Zero Liquid Discharge (ZLD) norms. Conventional effluent treatment plants (Flocculation, ASP, Membranes) are energy-intensive, costly (₹100–130/m³), and generate large sludge volumes. Small/medium dyeing units struggle with these costs, often leading to untreated discharges that harm rivers, crops, and public health in Tamil Nadu’s textile belt.
